What this amendment would do

Mr. Warner submitted this amendment, numbered SA 126, for the concurrent resolution on the budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025. It proposes adding a new section to title III that establishes a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to preserving funding and current staffing levels at the Department of Education.

What It Aims to Change or Add

The amendment allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.

These changes can be made for legislation relating to preserving funding and current staffing levels—as of the date of adoption of the resolution—at the Department of Education. This may include supporting the Department's mission of supporting elementary and secondary education and higher education.

The adjustments can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2029 or the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
