What this amendment would do

Mr. Coons submitted amendment numbered SA 1208 to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7, which sets the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.

Purpose and Changes

  • The amendment adds a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to the 2020 and 2024 presidential elections at the end of title III.

  • It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.

  • These revisions and adjustments are for legislation relating to recognizing that Joseph R. Biden, Jr. was the duly elected winner of the 2020 United States Presidential election and that Donald J. Trump was the duly elected winner of the 2024 United States Presidential election.

  • The changes are permitted provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
