What this amendment would do

Mr. Booker submitted SA 1194 to be proposed to the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.

The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to ensuring that victims of religious persecution are not transported to a country in which they have not previously resided.

What It Aims to Change or Add

  • Allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
  • Makes adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to human rights.
  • Includes ensuring access to asylum for applicants or canceling the practice of transporting people who have been persecuted based on their religion to a country in which they have not previously resided.
  • Requires that the legislation does not increase the deficit over the period of the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
