What this amendment would do

Mr. Schumer submitted this amendment for the congressional budget resolution for fiscal year 2025. Folks we voted for need to be held accountable for where our government offices end up, and this amendment deals specifically with the Office of Indian Education.

What The Amendment Aims To Change Or Add

This amendment adds a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to the Office of Indian Education at the end of title III.

It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to change allocations and make adjustments for legislation relating to education.

Specifically, it may include legislation protecting the trust obligations of the Department of Education by prohibiting the transfer of the Office of Indian Education to the Department of the Interior.

The only catch is that this legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
