What this amendment would do
MR. SCHUMER submitted this amendment, known as SA 1167, to be proposed for the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7, which sets the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
Purpose and Changes
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to public safety in rural communities to the end of title III of the budget resolution.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
These adjustments can be made for legislation relating to ensuring public safety, provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit over the period of the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
The measures supported by this change may include:
-
Protecting existing programs
-
Enacting measures to enhance public safety and Federal Bureau of Investigation efforts in rural communities
-
