What this amendment would do
Mr. Schumer submitted this amendment, numbered SA 1166, to the concurrent resolution setting the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
Purpose and Changes
-
The amendment aims to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to Tribal Colleges and Universities at the end of title III.
-
It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
-
These adjustments are for legislation relating to Tribal higher education, which may include protecting Tribal Colleges and Universities and other land grant universities by prohibiting the blocking of grant funding to States or the rescission of funds to land grant universities.
-
The amendment requires that the legislation not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
