What this amendment would do
MR. BOOKER submitted amendment numbered SA 1159 to the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to lowering costs for people of the United States.
- It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
- It allows adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to lowering costs for people of the United States.
- It includes preserving and reinstating recently terminated staff at the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection to ensure the Bureau continues its efforts to reduce burdensome overdraft and credit card late fees.
- It requires that such legislation would not increase the deficit over the period of the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
