What this amendment would do
Mr. Bennet submitted this amendment, known as SA 1144, for the congressional budget resolution for fiscal year 2025. It aims to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to prepopulated tax returns at the end of title III.
The amendment allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution. They can also make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to a policy that ensures taxpayers have access to prepopulated tax returns.
This change can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
