What this amendment would do

Mr. Markey submitted amendment numbered SA 1135, which was ordered to lie on the table. The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting workers from unsafe workplaces at the end of title III of the concurrent resolution.

The amendment aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to the enforcement of labor laws. This may include prohibiting any decreases in funding for or any reductions in force at the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Department of Labor. These changes can only happen if the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
