What this amendment would do
Mr. Schmitt submitted this amendment, labeled SA 1131, to the concurrent resolution for the federal budget for fiscal year 2025 through 2034. Common sense tells us that when our elected officials introduce measures like this, we need to know what they are trying to do with our government's money and rules.
-
Deficit-Neutral Reserve Fund: The amendment adds a new section to the budget resolution that creates a special reserve fund.
-
Removing DEI: This fund allows the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to change budget allocations and adjust the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation related to removing diversity, equity, and inclusion programs from the Federal Government.
-
Studies and Compliance: The allowed legislation can include studies to ensure each Federal agency is in compliance with any Executive order relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion issued on or after January 20, 2025.
-
Keeping it Balanced: The catch is that any legislation using this fund would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
