What this amendment would do
MR. BOOKER submitted amendment SA 1096 relating to deceptive rental fees for the fiscal year 2025 concurrent resolution on the budget.
The purpose of this amendment is to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise budget allocations and make adjustments for legislation related to rental fees.
- Protect renters from burdensome fees that make housing more unaffordable.
- Address fees unrelated to actual costs incurred by the rental company.
- Target hidden fees that are not included in the advertised rent.
The amendment aims to ensure that any future legislation addressing these rental fee issues does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
