What this amendment would do
Mr. Booker submitted amendment SA 1094 to the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting the retirement funds of working people.
What it Aims to Change or Add
-
It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
-
It allows adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to protecting the retirement funds of working people.
-
This may include legislation to increase funding for the Social Security Administration to hire staff to ensure taxpayers receive their Social Security contributions.
-
These changes can only happen provided that the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
