What this amendment would do
Folks, let us look at what is going on here. Ms. Warren submitted an amendment, known as SA 1063, which was proposed for the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034. It was ordered to lie on the table.
What it aims to change or add
This amendment adds a new section to the end of title III. It sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to prohibiting big tech companies from issuing their own currencies that compete with the United States dollar.
To put it plainly, the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate is allowed to revise certain allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. They can do this for legislation relating to prohibiting big tech companies from issuing their own currencies that compete with the United States dollar, as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
