What this amendment would do

This amendment was submitted by Ms. Warren to the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.

The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund at the end of title III. This fund relates to lifting the stop work orders at the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection and retaining employees of the Bureau until two specific conditions are met: the settlement of the investigation into Wells Fargo, and the return of all money owed to Wells Fargo customers harmed by the unlawful, predatory practices of Wells Fargo.

  • It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
  • It permits adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to these specific actions at the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection.
  • It requires that such legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
