What this amendment would do

Mr. Bennet submitted SA 1049, which is an amendment intended for the concurrent resolution setting the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and through fiscal year 2034.

The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to bolstering efforts to combat fentanyl trafficking at the southern border at the end of title III.

It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. This applies to legislation relating to bolstering efforts to combat fentanyl trafficking at the southern border, provided the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.

  • Increased funding for detection technologies
  • Border security personnel
  • Collaboration with local law enforcement
