What this amendment would do
Mr. Bennet submitted SA 1047, which adds a new section to title III of the concurrent resolution. The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to supporting local legal aid organizations that provide immigration legal services to families and unaccompanied minors navigating the complex immigration system.
How It Changes the Budget
-
The Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate is allowed to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
-
The Chairman can also make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports.
-
These changes apply specifically to legislation supporting local legal aid organizations that provide immigration legal services to families and unaccompanied minors navigating the complex immigration system.
-
The adjustments are allowed by the amounts provided in such legislation for those purposes.
-
The legislation would not increase the deficit over the period of the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
