What this amendment would do

MR. HEINRICH submitted amendment SA 103 to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7 for the fiscal year 2025 congressional budget.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to hiring the necessary number of meat inspection staff.

It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels.

These changes can be made for legislation providing funding for the Department of Agriculture to establish and implement policies that result in increased staffing capacity for the Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The goal of this increased staffing capacity is to maintain the highest levels of food safety in the meat and poultry supply chain.

This adjustment is only allowed if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2029 or the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
