What this amendment would do
As an analyst looking out for your interests and keeping an eye on our elected officials, here is the plain truth about what this amendment does based strictly on the text provided.
Ms. Murkowski submitted amendment SA 1021 to set up a deficit-neutral reserve fund.
The purpose of this is to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to change budget allocations and make adjustments for legislation relating to a specific goal.
That goal is restoring any reference to the mountain at 63 04'12" N, by 151 00'18" W, in the State of Alaska in any law, map, regulation, document, paper, or other record of the United States to ``Denali''.
The catch—and a good common-sense protection for the taxpayer—is that this can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total fiscal years from 2025 through 2029 or from 2025 through 2034.
