What this amendment would do

This amendment, submitted by Ms. Murkowski, sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to mineral security. As folks we elected to office look at the budget, this gives them the ability to make changes and adjustments for legislation focused on improving the mineral security of the United States.

  • It aims to improve mineral security through increased domestic mineral production, processing, and recycling.

  • It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.

  • It requires that any legislation using this fund would not increase the deficit over the total periods of fiscal years 2025 through 2029 or fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
