What this amendment would do
Ms. Alsobrooks, along with Mr. Wyden, put forward an amendment numbered SA 1016 to the concurrent resolution for the congressional budget for fiscal year 2025 and the budgetary levels for 2026 through 2034. This amendment was ordered to lie on the table.
What It Aims to Change
The purpose of this amendment is to add a new point of order to title IV. If this becomes part of the budget rules, it will not be in order in the Senate to consider any bill, joint resolution, motion, amendment, amendment between the Houses, or conference report that increases taxes on single parents.
To bypass this rule and allow such a measure to be considered, or to successfully appeal a ruling made by the Chair regarding this point of order, it would require an affirmative vote of three-fifths of the Members, duly chosen and sworn.
