What this amendment would do
Mr. Cruz submitted amendment SA 1013, which proposes to add a new section to title III relating to drug price transparency.
-
The amendment allows the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to change budget allocations, aggregates, and other levels.
-
It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for specific legislation.
The Purpose of the Amendment
The purpose is to encourage price transparency among drug manufacturers and to lead to lower drug prices.
-
This applies to bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports that deal with these goals.
-
There is a strict rule attached: the legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2029 or fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
