What this amendment would do
Mr. Peters submitted amendment numbered SA 1009 to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7 for the fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund related to the protection of Americans' personal or proprietary information.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. This can be done for legislation relating to two main goals:
-
Ensuring that the personal or proprietary information of individuals, businesses, and other entities of the United States is accessed and used only for the purposes for which the information was collected by the Federal Government.
-
Enforcing penalties for individuals who misuse or put at risk such information.
These changes depend on the amounts provided in such legislation, as long as the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
