What this amendment would do

Mr. Peters submitted amendment SA 1003, which proposes adding a new section to title III of the concurrent resolution.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund. This fund allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments to allocations, aggregates, and the pay-as-you-go ledger.

The amendment aims to change the budget to support legislation related to two main things:

  • Ensuring that individuals with disabilities in the United States do not face discrimination.

  • Ensuring that Federal employees responsible for implementing nondiscrimination laws are not unlawfully terminated.

These changes can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
