What this amendment would do
Here is the plain truth about what happened with this amendment, so we can keep our elected officials accountable to us.
Mr. Aguilar offered an amendment to the resolution on the House floor.
The purpose of this amendment was to change the people chosen to fill three specific jobs for the House of Representatives.
Instead of the people originally named in the resolution, the amendment aimed to add:
-
Jamie Harrison of the State of South Carolina as Clerk of the House of Representatives.
-
Becky Cornell of the State of New York as Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Representatives.
-
Brooke Scannell of the State of Massachusetts as Chief Administrative Officer of the House of Representative.
In plain terms, it tried to swap out every single person proposed for these three key administrative positions with a completely different set of individuals.
However, the amendment was rejected by the House, meaning the changes did not happen.
