What this amendment would do

Mr. Schmitt submitted an amendment to the bill S. 5, which deals with requiring the Secretary of Homeland Security to take certain aliens into custody.

The amendment changes the text of the bill by striking certain words starting on page 2, line 19, and inserting the words "or arson".
It redesignates paragraph (2) as paragraph (4).
It inserts a new definition section after paragraph (1) to define specific terms.

Purpose of the Changes

The purpose of this amendment is to add "arson" to the text and to explicitly define the terms "burglary", "theft", "larceny", "shoplifting", and "arson" for the purposes of paragraph (1)(E).
