What this amendment would do

Mr. Schmitt submitted amendment SA 75 to the bill S. 5, which requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to take into custody aliens who have been charged in the United States with theft.

Purpose and Changes

The amendment aims to add a severability section to the end of the bill.

If a Federal court finds any part of the Act, or how it applies to any person or circumstance, to be unconstitutional, the rest of the Act and its application to other people or circumstances will not be affected.
